Is it odd that G,Y,B all take different information to form the Title to a search result for my webpage?
For example, G seems to take the informantion in my tabs plus the title line to the specific page.
While Y takes the desciptive information in the banner to all my pages plus the information in my tabs.
And B just takes the descriptive information in the banner to all my pages.
Very strange. There is nothing to be estranged about it because every search engine have their own algorithm to measure the quality of a website and webpage. It is just one of those factors. And yes, Bing and Yahoo in comparison to Goole put more emphasize of meta tags to show up on search results. I optimize for Google...an rank well in Bing and Yahoo....
Sites can be all engines SEOd.....
Much easier than the days of the big eight.... Google has started showing different titles from what you have in your title tag dependent on the query. You can see mentions on the leading SEO blogs about this. BTW what was the query? That would give a better idea. Do you do changes in meta tags regularly? Sometimes yahoo shows previous title in its result. Yes, it is possible, because all these 3 search engines apply different algorithm to show result (title and description). Sometimes Yahoo shows Dmoz title in your search result. The Search Engines have different personalities. Yahoo and MSN are more forgiving if you take short cuts. Google, play by the rules, or you will pay the price. Bottom line, follow the rules, and you will be A OK . It goes back to the old saying content is king and google loves the content. make sure you fill in all your meta information and write good content and you will see tons of love from all of them. 80% SE traffic comes from Google, I see that if you're on top on Google, Y and B take you on top in their listing.
So always respect google Well, you should always focus on the sources that generates more traffic to your website, in my case Google provides me more than 90% of my organic traffic. Bing and Yahoo constitutes rest of 10 %. Since the tie up of Bing and Yahoo, you only need to focus on two search engines at the moment, Google and Bing as Yahoo results are also powered by Bing. I've seen them all change the title if they think:
- The title isn't relevant to the query but the content is
- The title is too stuffed full of keywords to be meaningful
- Title doesn't match the content
