I need help please.... first of all, I know this isnt an asp question, but since I have gotten help that I couldn't find elsewhere in this forum before, I am trying again. So if youre going to harass me and tell me to go to another site, don't. Im not in the mood. I deleted a really important folder. Accidently. It was 500 MB too big for the recycle bin so its gone. Is there anyone out there who knows if there is any way at all for me to retrieve what was lost. Maybe a dos command? Like system restore or backup? If so, what exactly would be the syntax. I am not a dos programmer... just a lowly entry level developer. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance. By the way, Im running windows NT workstation 4.0 and its on a laptop.... Thanks.

Hey ive done the same thing before it really sucks. Unfortunately undelete programs are hard to get. They exists but are not native to the operating system. DONT WRITE ANYTHING TO THE DRIVE THAT NEEDS RECOVERING. DOnt even download the shareware to it. You can download shareware to recover but it wont recover large amounts of data as you have described. You'll need to buy it. Depending on whether your using ntfs or fat32.
If your using ntfs.....
http://www.b******.net/r2k.htm

also try this one.... it does ntfs and fat32
http://www.uneraser.com/undelete.htm

I believe powerquest offers an undelete program as well. They are the guys that make partition magic and stuff.

www.powerquest.com

This is just top results I get from google. You may beable to find a free one. I doubt it though.Btw... This is not a flame... but you would have better luck on another forum. The guys that hang out here are really smart..

www.ntcompatible.com*Don't* write more stuff to the hard drive...

If you overwrite the blocks that hold the data that you "deleted"...It'll be gone. Till then, it's all still there, the file system has simply chosen to forget where, since you told it that the data wasn't needed anymore.Search ntcompatible.com messageboard. Tons of messages about undelete there... Alot were basically saying the same thing I was. However there are more links to different kinds of software and list more alternatives for you....whats even better, now I realized that I also deleted my zip software, so in order to even get something on a floppy, I need to reload it...
