Custom vB skin

I'm not really requesting a skin that's currently available so if this is in the wrong place, I'm sorry and ask that it is moved to the appropriate forum.

I want to get a custom skin produced for my vB forum. Not just the default skin recoloured, but a proper custom skin made. The problem I'm having is that there are quite a few people out there that do them and they range from $300 to $1000 based on the same design brief.

Now, my board (legit) doesn't make money and I pay for a dedicated server out of pocket every year (it started out for my wife and her friends but some how has gotten quite big despite never advertising it) so I don't have a spare $300 let alone $1000 to spend on a skin.

Now, what I was thinking is that I've been using GetAFreeLancer type script sites for outsourced projects and was thinking I could use them again for a vB designer but I don't know how good they'd be.

Why am I here waffling on about it on vBTeam? Well, I assume some of you have legit boards and that you may have had custom skins done and was wondering what sort of experiences you've had and who, if anyone, you'd recommend? What should I look for and what sort of money would you expect to pay for a custom design where I've basically already told you what colours, what I want it to look like, can provide the logo, etc and only need "you" to make a skin to make my 'look' into a vB compliant site and possibly do bullets/buttons/postbit.

If you have had legit work done and don't want to advertise the fact publicly, please feel free to pm me. If not, I didn't have much to lose by asking and thanks for reading! :)

Getting a quality custom skin is VERY expensive... I'd recommend spending the 300 bucks on a professional designer.
If not, you can take an existing skin and just modify it in a way it looks like it's custom... that's what many boards do. ;)

I've got a paid for skin, now I just need to figure out how to customise it! :P
