What is Crawl rate and how it would influence the Search engine rankings.. Crawl rate is the frequency that Google crawls a website whether once a month or 100 times daily. Now Google will crawl websites more if it considers the websites content important. So if you are getting crawled a lot many times a day then Google thinks of your website as something worth spending much time on and important. If you are getting crawled frequently you will probably rank better for the terms you seo for. This is not fact you may be crawled a lot every day and not be ranked for anything, but in most cases if your crawled frequent you will be on top of the serps for keywords your trying to rank well for. Don't be discouraged if your site is crawled infrequently at first. it will grow over time as you gain authority in the Search Engines. Your site should be built in a user friendly way that allows the spiders to know what to crawl and how frequently to crawl. There are factors that influence the crawling of a site and its successful indexing before the site ranks on the SERPs. @lindondaylon, don't forget to credit the original author when you are copy and pasting other's content. What you've added is Ann Smarty's. Ref: http://www.searchenginejournal.com/10-ways-to-increase-your-site-crawl-rate/7159/ Above one already gives a good explanation on crawling rate. I would recommend you avoid doing any change to the crawling rate setting in Google Webmaster Tools. Most of setting done by Google is already optimum for each website and your adjust would not help anything in SEO perspective. It does not have any special effect as far as SEO is concerned. It only makes your site content available faster for searches Quote: Originally Posted by suryanandikolla What is Crawl rate and how it would influence the Search engine rankings.. Crawl rate is the frequency of the Google Spiders crawling your site. Though you can increase your crawl rate by:
* Update your content often and regularly (and ping Google once you do)
* Get more back links from regularly crawled sites
* Adjust the crawl speed via Google Webmaster tools
* Add a sitemap There are two different types of crawl rate.

One is the frequency with which Google re-crawls an existing resource.

The other, related to the setting on Webmaster Tools, controls how much server bandwidth Google's 'bots use when accessing any resource, old or new, on your site's server, so as to not adversely impact your users.

The two are wholly unrelated.

As to the former, Google attempts to re-crawl resources based on the rate at which their content changes. Each time a resource is re-crawled, Google notes whether or not the content is identical to that of its precious crawl. The less often a page's content changes, the lower will be the re-crawl frequency.

However, Google cannot know whether or not content has changed unless it actually crawls, so it looks to changes in the number of Inbound Links (IBLs) and traffic volumes as possible indicators of the likelihood of such; pages which more rapidly acquire IBLs and/or show heavy or increasing traffic are the more likely to have non-static content. Therefore such pages will initially be candidates for being re-crawled the more frequently.

However, if it turns out that their content is not actually changing frequently, Google will throttle back the re-crawl rate no matter how high that page's PR or traffic.
