complete beginner in need of advice please!

But the manual is a very good tool actually. It got beginner tutorials which introduces you to the language. Download an offline copy and have a look.<br /><br />You might want to set up a few smaller test projects for your self and learn in smaller steps instead of diving straight into an existing large codebase for a forum. So very easy to get lost like that as you probably already experienced by the sound of it.<!--content-->
