Ok, I was browsing around looking for travel blogs to leave a "meaningful" comment and hopefully obtain a backlink. I came across a dofollow site that didn't really have a main niche. It was a soccer moms blog where one post had to do with making homemade pies, another post was about her daily activities, to another post that had to deal with their family trip to the Grand Canyon. Out of her 100 or so posts, the "Grand Canyon" post is the only one that had to do with travel.
Well, I left a comment, but I wondered to myself "Would Google consider this a related link"? The post that I commented on had to do with travel, but all the rest of the posts had nothing to do with that subject. Any opinions on this? I've always wondered about this but never have seen anything written about it. Thanks for any helpful info. It's hard to say exactly. It may be that Google has classified that page as being about "travel," and therefore views the link as relevant. On the other hand, the fact that the whole site is on a random variety of topics may mean Google has put it in a random category based on a few posts, or it may be viewed as a content farm. It's pretty much impossible to speculate without seeing the information from Webmaster Tools for that blog. In any case, the strength of a blog comment link on its own isn't a huge deal - their power is in numbers. Having a few here and there from general sites isn't going to make a difference, so I wouldn't worry about it. If the blog post page has ranking, it will be useful prioritizing the relevance of the content. Always a backlink with a high PR page might be useful then a backlink from non indexed page with whatever relevance it may have. Well there are lots of dofollow search engines you can use to get those do follow related pages to make comment. One such engine is commenthunt.com Quote: Originally Posted by ishuvonet Well there are lots of dofollow search engines you can use to get those do follow related pages to make comment. One such engine is commenthunt.com Could you maybe answer what the thread creator is really wanting to know?

You will definitely get benefits of back link even that page is not relevant to your subject. So, do not hesitate to comment on any blog if you have proper answer for that. thanks for honestly sharing good opinion. I think google does give credit to relevant comments on blogs of similar niche.. it can still be considered as backlinks, even it is from irrelevant niche... of course, backlinks from relevant sites will give you more values in terms of quality. So don't worry about it too much.
