I have a new project that will require many columns in a table. I am trying to bring the number of columns down. Right now, I have a separate column for three different initial fields. I was thinking of combining these columns (char3's)into one column (char9). I would control the input and output through php, so the initials, ejy kml and lsg would be stored in one column as ejykmllsg. Would this be better than using three different columns or will it make any difference at all?
