Chmod Taking An Eternity

Just trying to configure Dada mail for my site and I had to CHMOD the mail.cgi script. It was set at 644 and I am using cPanel to set it to 755 per the instructions.

So far that thing has been chugging for about 5 min. Does it usually take this long to make the change?

Thanks,
Nat
Ok.. my dial up dropped... connection is bad right now b/c of rain.

Just went back in and tried to change the Permission to 755 and it won't do it. It just stays at 644.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

The Permissions tables shows

User Group World
Read x x x
Write x
Execute
Permission 6 4 4

Thanks,
Nat
Hmmmm this is not working in cPanel. I also tried using WS FTP but the CHMOD command won't let me change the permission numbers.

Strange.
Nat,

What file are you trying to change? it is probably because it is a script and you are not the owner.

In the online installation instructions, it states to CHMOD the mail.cgi file to 755.

QUOTE

From the Dada siteStep #4: Upload Dada Mail
Log into your hosting account using your FTP program and navigate to your cgi-bin. I then tried to use WS_FTP LE and it doesn't show numbers. Hey Nat, yes.. there is a better FTP client, try downloading SmartFTP. In SmartFTP all you should have to do is right click the file you want to change the permission of, go down to "Properties/CHMOD" and you can type the number or check the boxes.. whichever suits your fancy. Hope it works out for you!
