Change my forum domain to a new domain

How?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm new lol.

Is there anyguide?

Depends on what host you got, plus what registrar you got your domain with.

Basically its just to change the A record for the new domain to the same IP as the old ones A record points to but after that you need to tell the hosting that "hey, use this new domain instead". And how you do that differs between all hosting (unless theyre using the same software that is ;)) but if you got cPanel i think you can do it in that.

If you cant find out how to tell the server that it should connect the new domain with the old server you can set a CNAME record (instead of a A record) which basically redirects people connecting to the new domain to the old domain.

Just register new domain and enter servernames of your host and thats it. In that way the both domains will reffer to your forum. If you wish only new domain to reffer to ur forums than just delete servernames from from old domain.Everything is in the servernames.

If you dont know what is your servernames then loggin to your old domain, look for servernames and enter that same servernames to your new domain.

Many servers, IIS and Apache just to mention two, need you to set it up so it knows which domain it should point to which webroot otherwise the chance is pretty big that youll come to another page instead of yours.

Unless you got your own server thats set up to only handle one site no matter which domain you use.

Your answer was more like the one youd use for a free redirecting service like ath.cx or .tk.

I also want to like restore my posts on the new domain.

First you asked about changing the domain, but now it more sounds like youre going to change the host!? Make up your mind :P.

im using paid service for redirection. I have registered domain at estdomains.com and paid hosting and i have used redireriction like i said in my first post...im not saing that you are wrong im just saing what procedure i have used.
for moving forum to another host and keep posts, members etc you need to backup your db,download ur files from old server than upload it on new and execute sgl(use bigdump for this).

Redirecting sucks :) its better to just have the domain point to the correct place.
