Can MS Index Server index on XML tags

I am looking at a simple database where one of the fields contain XML code.I am looking for a way to instruct an index server such as MS Index Serverto look at a set of XML tags and create indexes on them. In this way I canbuild an interface for searching that enables the searcher to search fordatabase records based on embedded XML tags in the XML code that I will putin a field in the database.Thanks for any help on this one.
