Can a new web host affect serps?

I know all about jagger but I find it odd that since we switched hosts our traffic has been in the tank. Can a web host cause this? It seems unlikely but there is a definite correlation between when we switched and our business declining.I'm not confirm but the seo guys say that new host could boost/degrade the present serp.The host can affect the SERPs in several ways. Like if the server is down often then pages won'd get crawled when the googlebot is there. But the most detrimental way the host can harm you is if the apache is not set up right and it sends the wrong header information somehow.
