Buying High Page Rank Sites

Hello all, I am new to the world of SEO and reading through and trying to learn this fun game of SEO. I do have a question about buying high page ranked domains. Once you purchase the domain and input a new site or a new forum on there, will it change the ranking at all, or will it continue to keep that page rank as long as you do the right things with the site, and the SEO involved? And also what would you consider a high page rank when buying an older domain? The reason that I am asking is a friend of mine is selling a pr 5 domain that just has a parked page on it, and I would like to buy it to use for a small business forum, but am concerned that when I put the forum on the domain, that I may loose the page ranking and it would have all been for not.

Thanks Yep, its PR will change once you create a new site or a forum using that particular domain.

Personally, I would not even consider the PageRank when buying a domain. PageRank it like a measurement tool that gives Google an idea on how importance a web page is. I would pay attention to its age rather than knowing it PR.

If you will buy a domain, all I can suggest you is to pick the right one - a domain that can be easily remembered by your visitors. With that being the case, how can a domain that has a parked advertisement page have a high ranking? Wouldn't that go against almost everything since it is not keeping up with new content, and not many keywords are being used on the site, it was all pretty random information. I am sorry, I am a little confused on how that page would still be considered relevant. If they did have a page on it, and changed to the parked advertisement page, wouldnt the PR already have changed with the changing from the page to the parking page?

Thanks Ok, I think I have seen the first issue with buying a high page rank site, it seems to me that there is a lot of redirecting going on in those sites, and that it is not a true page rank. Does that really make a difference (unless you're a large corporation with the money to buy an attractively titled domain)? Maybe I'm just using my example but if I come across a good site, I bookmark it - there might be 50 characters in the URL but it's not as if I have to type it i every time I want to go there. I think apart from the length of the domain its relevancy with your product or services is also very important! Get your own domain which is not high in price and a good page rank will be an added advantage, develop website and promote it of your own, for every thing time is an important factor and hard work. You don't have to own a large corporation before you can buy an "attractively titled domain". And yep, the bookmark feature of a browser would definitely help but based from my experience, when I'm not in front of my computer (actually, it's not mine haha) I could not remember the EXACT domain or URL of a website that I recently bookmarked. Even though I wanted to share it with my friends, I will tell them that I will just text them the URL when I arrived on the office the other day - which I usually forgot. LOL I have purchased 100's of domains with page rank and added a site to it and the PR didnt go down. If you're going to buy a site for the PR value, check out what sites are linking to it. As long as it has back links from sites with high PR, your pr will not change.
