Buying a .com domain and pointing back to au domain name.

Hope the title makes sense.

I run the Stepfamily Zone (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.stepfamily.asn.au">http://www.stepfamily.asn.au</a><!-- m -->) at stepfamily.asn.au (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.stepfamily.asn.au">http://www.stepfamily.asn.au</a><!-- m -->)

We do quite well for the rankings in Australia but when we start looking at American rankings could be better.

We have adsense on the site and feel the revenue could increase if we had more American traffic, but that is dropping back of late.

Would there be any advantage for us to looking setting up another site with a .com domain and pointing back to the main site?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but if someone in America is searching Google for stepfamily issues, wouldn't google first display results from a .com before a .au

Hope that made sense.

Thanks

John
