I am trying to raise my website's PR (http://www.xenolth.biz) It's currently at a 5. I know that's average, but I'd like to do better.I'd like to get others' opinions... what's the best way people have found to raise PR? To get "good" PR, must one be willing to purchase or trade links, or can one do it without either of these?Also... which is better, trading links or purchasing links? Thanks,~Caspian the 11thIt is going to take a lot to get from a 5 to a 6. One thing I noticed that you do not have is a DMOZ listing. Depending on the category you get into, this would be a big help on increasing it to a 6.I would also get a Yahoo Directory listing. This will not only help increase your Pagerank, but will also get you good positioning in their search.Otherwise I would look to trading links with sites in your industry that have good PR on their links pages.Yeah, I have submitted my site to DMOZ and Yahoo a couple of times, but never got in. Should I keep trying in different categories?Well with DMOZ...You need to write down the date and category you submitted it to. Once a month rolls by and you didn't get it, check http://www.resource-zone.com and see the status of it. You have to wait a month. With Yahoo Directory, their is a $299.00 charge so I am guessing you thought I was talking about Yahoo Search. You need to find a relevant category with good PR and write a great title/description. They will review it and you should be included in less than week. Thanks for those tips for getting into DMOZ. I'll make sure to follow them.Ouch! $299.00 for Yahoo... I'm not quite sure if I want to sink that much money into a link...Well, its not just a link. I have many Yahoo directory listings that come up on the 1st page of Yahoo search results for some of my keyword searches.hi guys, what is the longest wait ever for dmoz inclusion? from yr experiences i mean..1 year? The longest for me was since October 2003, and then they informed my that the site was declined for insufficient content :-/ just last week.thats the longest wait I have ever heard vetofunk. lol. abt 10 months.I've been waiting since last December (applied again in February and still no reply ) .I've read in a couple of places that the editors are often people that run sites in that category. This would make sense (as they've got a vested interest) but presumably means that they are not too eager to publish competitor sites.I've a suspicion that this is happening to me. Anyone no how to check this out or what recourse to follow is an editor purposefully ignores you (i.e. are there high level editors you can reach)?Thanks,Mikehttp://www.viva-almeria.comLook into http://www.resource-zone.com. You should be able to look into and ask other editors about it.vetofunk wrote:I had thought your first status request could be 1 month from your submission date and then the waiting period would be every 6 months.best way to raise pr5 to pr 6 (according to me the only way ) is hiring p7+ links http://www.ozzu.com/other-google-information-and-resources/hiring-backlinks-t28908.htmlvetofunk wrote:
