Hey Guys,
thinking over some code I'll have to deal with soon,I've come to something that was a large annoyance with my previous cms I wrote. As you can probably guess,I will be using a bbcode system to allow formatting....but I'll also be allowing modifications....therefore I'd like to know how parsing the bbcode at runtime as opposed to when the item is stored in the db would affect the execution speed. And also if there is a paticular method you'd recommend for 'reversing' the sceheme of the bbcode if parsing it before storing in the db would be a better method.Reversing of course being re-translating the html back to the bbcode equivilant.I used to use two functions( one being an exact reversal of the other) but there HAS to be a more efficent method.
Any ideas appriciated, now you gone and did it. you just had to ask
well here is what I would do. save it as bbcode in teh db, and then just revert it to html when it goes to the page. leave it as bbcode will let you edit it much better if you need to.
also that is what this board does.Originally posted by scoutt
