Bad idea buying Links

Hi Guys , For the last couple of months i have been working hard updating my site and adding it to directories.I then decided to buy 600 directory links , where a company manually submits your site for you.But since a week ago i feel my site is going backwards in the Google and when i do i link popularity check instead of going up i'm going down.Do you think i have been given a penalty for spamming , if so can you ever get back to where you were before. Is it best just to leave my site a loan for while.Any help will be greatRegards PaoloI dont know if its just my site and im in the sandbox or its everyone but my link:www.yourdomain.com in google just doesnt work, or isnt a fair representation of the number of links.I find that http://www.smartpagerank.com gives me more accurate results as it shows me yahoo and alta vista which I find are more accurate. Also on that site, on the left hand side once you have got to the results page, you can click to see your links from all 65 google data centres, and also, you can click the back link analyser half way down the page, it flashes, and it will show you the PR of the sites you are listed on.Also, I dont think it is a good idea to pay someone to submit your site for you, because you have no control over the quality of the sites they are listing you with, and if the listings are coming up fast, there is a chance that it isnt a human edited directory (some quality checks in place) or that they are just dummy sites that they submit links to to charge you the $100 or what ever. Its just like someone placing google adds on their site, then clicking going to internet cafes, and clicking every link from every PC.They might list you on 599 quality sites, and 1 really bad site, and you will possibly get stung by google. Why dont you just ask for a list of the sites they have listed you on, and go have a squiz at them, and just be carefull in the future with this sort of thing. What was your site address, the alpine connection wasnt it?http://www.smartpagerank.com/pagerank-b ... esults=100most of your listings are from the web vault (your featured listing) or ivebeenthere.co.ukI really dont see many that have been added by someone else, but yahoo only crawls my (so im assuming your) site once a week, so if this all took place in the last few days, i would think it would take a week or more to see all the results.Hi Steve Thanks for the information, they supllied me with a list of all 600 directories they submitted to. They seem all ok 60 percent with pr 2 plus ranging to 5The only good thing is that they are taking time for them to be approved which hopefully google will think that i am just submiting them manually.I would have to agree with you on representation of links. I look at some of my competition and they have alot less links then me, i have a lot more links with higher pr , i thinki have good website and my Pr is still 1.Hopefully this will change I had a look at smartpagerank a couple of days ago and i had 129 links but todays its showing 114. Is that normal or am i losing linksKind regards Paoloit does fluxuiate, sometimes yahoo etc misses a few links, i check once per day, and have lost 1 or two then they come back again.IMHO paying for 600 link submissions that have to get manually approved seems a little daft, because they may not get approved, but i agree that if they are good places with good PR then it may well be worth it as will save you a lot of time. How much did you pay, and what was the company?I agree, you are definatly ready for a PR2 and with some more work, on your way to a PR3.GLPalo,Just tried what you did to see how effective it is, spent $1, got listed in 30 directories (I got all the thanks for submitting emails), One site also listed me within 4 hours, and the page I am on is a PR2 and im 2nd from the top.And I got a list of all the sites I was loaded onto, and for an extra $1 you can get a full report and screen shot of the listing process.+ this guy responded to me like 2 mins after I posted asking for the service. So I change my mind about the above post, im about to go and spend a whole pile more lol.http://www.namepros.com/for-sale-advert ... rting.htmlHi Steve, I used this website http://www.submitedge.com/ i paid 40 dollars. Just had a look at your link looks goodWhen you said that sometimes yahoo misses a few links i have noticed that before but is it normal to miss 15 links out at a time.Cheers for your help Regards Paolona normally it is just one or two links, i was just checking now and a link that didnt show up before is back again now.I check so regularly and can check it easily because part of my system (website) is to monitor my backlinks for me, and remind me when they are due for renewal.+ i only have a few lol, site is uber new.The package that you bought says it takes 9-12 days to complete, so no hurry yet, i would wait 18 days before I started to worry.Have they given you your free bonuses Free Bonuses:1. Free Detailed Report after submission is complete.2. Free Featured Listing for 2 years on PR4 Web Directory -http://www.search-dir.com 3. Free Featured Listing for 1 years on PR5 Web Directory - http://www.seoposting.com Those by themself are worth more than the $40 that you paid for the free submission. And they list their phone numbers so the company must be doing something right, or some anarchist would have gone and blown up their office by now.I would push for the PR4 & PR5 Listing straight away then chil for a week waiting for the submissions.PR5 listings are like $60 a month, so for 12 months is pretty good.Hi Steve Yes im listed on those two sites, which is great news. Will just hang tight like you said and see what happens.I take it it can be a while before smartpagerank will pick these up.Regards Paolofrom what I can gather 2 things need to happen for smart page rank1. Each time you do a check on the same day i think it just loads the first check you did (I think)2. It can only pick up the links that are listed in yahoo, altavista etc, so until they crawl the other persons site and pick up your link it wont show up. + even after they crawl the site, there is like a 2 day hold period before the link gets listed. If you want more up to date info on your BL, but not all the other info link indexed pages etc etc, I use thishttp://www.submitexpress.com/cgi-bin/li ... smoney.comjust put in your domain.Hi Steve You helped me before about robots etc...I have this message on my google report for my blogspot URLs restricted by robots.txt 1 But below says successIs this all okGooglebot has not indexed my site since 2 July , i take it i just need to submitt it to directories pretty much what i do with my own site.robots.txt URL http://alpine-connection.blogspot.com/robots.txt Last downloaded September 2, 2007 2:45:49 AM PDT Status 200 (Success) [?] User-agent: Mediapartners-GoogleDisallow: User-agent: *disallow: /searchSitemap: http://alpine-connection.blogspot.com/f ... by=updatedKind Regards PaoloI remember helping you with your robots.txt file but what you have made is way of base, its terrible rofl.Make it say thisUser-agent: *disallow: /search/And nothing elseFirstly, the lineDisallow:scares me, and you just dont need it there, what your saying is that google can crawl everything, then after it you say it cant crawl search. Now you put disallow: Searchwhich means it cant crawl any file called search*.htm or .php etc and it cant crawl the directory called search or search*you have basically said, anything that starts with search is not available for spidering, even if it is google bot. Also, remove the sitemap command, it isnt linking to a valid site.xml file, a sitemap must be a .xml file (or so i beleive)eg http://alpine-connection.blogspot.com/sitemap.xmlbut it doesnt matter because, you have told every spider that visits your site that it is disallowed access to the sitemapI am going to make a new post below this one, and I will re outline making a robots.txt file for you.Alright Paolo, you need two seperate robots.txt files one for your blogspot and one for your domain.Alpine-Connection.comrobots.txt file should beUser-agent:*Allow: /You dont have a valid sitemap (that I could find) on the site so remove the reference to the sitemap. (to see a sitemap click thishttp://www.walkoffwithyourcompetitorsmo ... itemap.xml )Alpine-connection.blogspot.comrobots.txtUser-agent: *Sitemap: http://alpine-connection.blogspot.com/f ... derby=upda ted disallow: /searchJust note that your sitemap is not a valid link, it does go to an RSS feed but I dont think this is allowed. If you dont have a sitemap (which is likely given your circumstances) go to this site and it will make one for you.http://www.auditmypc.com/xml-sitemap.asporhttp://www.freesitemapgenerator.com/Once your sitemap is made, email it to me, [email protected] and i will check it for you, to make sure that it is all ok.Infact, once you have got the sitemap.xml file made, send it to me, and send me your robot.txt files aswell, I will do them all for you and email them back to you. Also, re your last index, according to my spidey senses (so dumb lol) your site was lased crawled on the 27th August (1 day before me) and your blog was last crawled on 12th July, which is when you last updated it, why would you need it to re crawl the site when nothing has changed lol.Anyways, get the sitemap mad (You will have to make a .txt file in your root directory to confirm it is your site) then send and ill fix 4 u.Hi Steve ,I will give this all a go. I new to this, the guy that built my site which cost me a fortune and for months never got indexed due to some software he had on there. I decided to look into SEO about three months ago and have now some new software that gives me some control over the site but not all the root files. Only now is my site starting to show up well in google , its quite sad as it was me telling my website guy what to do.(at one point all my meta tags were the same) I asked him a couple of days ago to put a robots txt file in the root directory to point to my site map.(Just make a text file in your root directory, call it robots.txt and slap this in itUser-agent: *Sitemap: http://www.yourdomainname.com/sitemap.xmlAllow: /)Do i then go to the link that you gave me and generate a sitemap , and if so what do i do with it.Also when it come to the blogs spot how do i get to the root directory , it was all created through google blogspot.I am in the process of trying build my own website using dreamweaver cs3 hopefully like this i will get a understanding for robots txt etc... and put all what i have learnt to good use and have full control over my site Hope this makes sense all your help has been great.Do you think for the meantime if i dont make theese changes to my site (until i build my new one) that my site will still be indexed ok in google.Kind regards Paolodownload a copy of MSN messenger if you dont have it already. then email me your contact email MSN messenger [email protected] you send me the email, i will jump onto MSN and open a chat window and we can get this all sorted for you in less than an hour.and ill get it ready for you to get index by google again. Its sad to hear that you paid a fortune for something that doesnt work how you want it to. anyways get MSN well get it sorted no worries.
