If I receive a backlink from several PR 0 or PR N/A websites, does this hurt my own rankings?
I have a PR 3 and the sites that are giving me these backlinks contain RELEVANT and unique content and are even considered "GOOD NEIGHBORHOOD". The reason their PR is very low or non-existent is because they are relatively new. How should I interpret this? Link with them.
Links are hard to come by, those sound good.
Bompa you should link for the sake of visitors, not PR. If the link will bring you a potential customers or somebody who will subscribe to your newsletter or do whatever your goal is on your site, than that's a good link.
to answer your question though, PR is not calculated with an average but an addition.
If PR is apples and a site (PR5) sends you 2,000 apples, my site (PR0) might send you 10 apples.
This is very simplified of course but you get the idea. If they are a good neighbors then you may link them.
Although the PR is very low,if the sites can help you bring potential clients you can link them. Google has not updated the toolbar PR for more than 4 months, so some of these sites may be new and have a good authority too - which may not be visible from the toolbar PR. Also, as time progresses, some of these sites will get authority and links from them would help you in the long run If you have a PR3 site while you have a backlinks with a low PR site that will have a great effect even they are good neighbors they can get the link juice of your website to their website meaning they can increase your visitors but you can't increase your rankings. I suggest you the same - link with them. The PR above 4 is good...
