I am beginning to realize that backlink packets offering links to high PR profile pages only promote spamming of those resources until the admins shut them down.
In essence, backlink packets are a harm to longterm SEO.
My 2 cents In my own experiences, it would all depend on how the users use them.
Thanks, Well, in the case that these backlink packets are distributed for a certain fee (mostly $5) only limits to those who have the budget to spend for this. And of course, if you had purchased this packet, I think that you have to make out the most benefit that you can get and will not let the sites shut down due to spamming. Thus, you have to create your links properly in order for your payment not to be wasted. But nowadays, spammers are everywhere, and once these packets get into the hands of black hat practitioners, some countermeasures in the side of these websites could be enforcing a very strict moderation and/or nofollowing all the outbound links. I disagree with this.. If you spam the sites then yes then will not work for you but if you use them in a non-spamming nature and don't drop more than 2 links max you will find benefit from them. I think its up to the person how he uses it, He is use it in a spamming way then it will definitely comes under the shoulder of spamming if your home page is strong then it will remain longer for a long time but if your page is not stronger then it gives only a temporary gain Quote: Originally Posted by breadnbutter I am beginning to realize that backlink packets offering links to high PR profile pages only promote spamming of those resources until the admins shut them down.

My 2 cents Truly, that is why other webmasters are not suggesting these packets in doing SEO because they will do no good for your site. It depends on how you are going to put the links. For me whitehat technique is the best way to promote sites.

[removed] Like many aspects of SEO, it all depends on how you choose to use them. Are you using them the first day you receive them? If so, yes they are usually shut down.
If you go back a few months later it is typically much more successful.
If you use them to learn how to find your own sites, that's the best use of your monthly fee. Any sport of spam related activity nowadays is not going to work out in the online SEO world because both people and the major engines would dislike the artificial traffic building and link addition methods. That's why it's always better to use your own ethic, choose your own collected sites & make profile back link there.
