Hey guys, so while doing my seo stuff for my own site i have noticed something that alot of my competitors have in common.

When they are creating backlinks they are not using a single keyword.
For example lets say they are targeting insurance. They have links with keywords that are insurance, auto insurance, life insurance, insurance quotes and like 20 different variations.

So is it better to use one keyword or is it better to mix it up a bit?

Also will using keywords like life insurance quotes, auto insurance quotes, get you ranked higher for another keyword like "insurance california"? People usually have a limited number of major keywords. I personally would not do more then 10.

And these keywords would be little less competitive compared to the parent one; in your case "insurance". so yes its good to have a set. insurance is a broad keyword and it will give you a lot google results when you searched it. It is informational and not the type of keywords for a users who's looking for a services.

Two keywords are better and three keywords for your long tail keys.
