Assign smilie packs for different styles

On my site I have a dark and a light style. I want the dark style to have a different set of smilies than the light, a separate bunch of smilies for itself. I have tried the replacement variable option but I don't have the exact same number similes for both styles and it doesn't work with some mods...

Any ideas?
