Ive had a news section built into our site for content which Om going to use for articles but Im also aware that its a good idea to create some external articles to help drive traffic as well as create external backlinks. Im going to be writing some good quality relevant articles as often as I can, preferably 3 or 4 per week. What would you recommend, should I:
a) find a set number of article sites to add the content to, changing the content slightly so its not duplicate content or
b) should I try and find as many sites as I possibly can and put the same content on (again changed slightly so its not seen as duplicate content by the search engines??
If its the latter then I can see it being difficult to change a few things on an article so its not seen as duplicate, how many things need to be changed in order for the search engines not to see it as duplicate? [misread question]

Once your article is there submit to A LOT of other article sites. I would say just stick to the best of the best article submission sites. Some of the other sites are a complete waste of time and will never even get indexed. Serious. Do a google search of the "top article submission sites" and go with the top 5 of those. Personally I use just three article directories and submit only original articles to them and it works well for me. You see the thing is if your articles are really good, other webmasters pick them up and you get a lot of backlinks that way.
However the changing articles and submitting them to a whole bunch of article directories is a method I have heard people use with some success. i think it really depends on how much time you have on your hands Yes, pick a smaller number of quality article directory and bloggers will love to post it and backlink to you. One more good way of markeitng is to find blogs related to your niche and writing comments with your website URL, it adds backlinks and brings traffic i think what you just said is a good method for article submition.
