Someone here was nice enough to give me this link http://validator.w3.org/
I put my websites in and it came up with around 15 errors. I put all the competition in and they had anywhere from 30-120 errors. Their sites always rank high, so it appears that the errors don't hinder a site from being ranked high in the searches. However, after doing some reading it seems that mistakes in the title, keywords or description tags could cause a problem in crawling. One of the errors I received was the following:
end tag for "meta" omitted, but OMITTAG NO was specified. You may have neglected to close an element, or perhaps you meant to "self-close" an element, that is, ending it with "/>" instead of ">".
I closed the keyword and description tag with ">" All of the competitors closed the tag the same way I did, but it did not come up as an error like it did for me. Is this something I should change or is it irrelevant?
Thanks Not all the errors shown by markup validators will give you lower ranking.
It will be easier for google to index and crawl and understand you site if your site pass the validation but most of the error shown by the validator will not effect your ranking. Hi, bedada
In my own experiences, some validations like alt attribute for your images would be useful for SEO purpose but most of them would not relate to SEO directly. Google itself would not pass all HTML validations.
have a nice day, I haven't use any validators but all of the sites that i handle still gain good rankings.. Don't bother about validation.
It makes the site browser friendly and search engines can easily read it.
Other than that it will not affect your SERPS. As per my knowledge it's reliable
