Say I have a site and I get 5 good PR 5 links...after a few updates my site now has a PR5 or maybe PR4...then someone decides to link to my site from a page that is less than desireable....very low PR...poor content. Does this hurt my PR....does it get diluted? Can it be stopped...it's my understanding that any site owner can link to what ever they please.....All INCOMING links are a good thing. PR is increased by incoming links. The problem is that low PR sites contribute far less than you give to them. You only have contrl over which sites you link to ... so you can only be penalized for linking out TO bad neighborhoods.Good to know! thanks I think all links are good links.Hey there,I agree that all incoming links are good links. Some links benefit you more than others.- High PR links will benefit you more than low PR links- Links from related niches will benefit you more than non-related niches- Links that follow are better for you than nofollow linksDo be cautious with outgoing links though. If you link to a link farm, your website could get banned from google. Likewise, you lose PR with outgoing links so unless you know what you are doing, make sure your outgoing links have the nofollow attribute.Best of luck in your endeavor.Sincerely,Travis , links that are related to your own site (topics/theme) are considered as good linksAre all links good links? If you want to exchange links or submit links to other site, you need to evaluated by determining if it is related site, with high page rank, a quality site with good content and with high traffic. For me, I consider a good link that are relevant to my site, but of course some sites has an excaptions. Not all links are good links. The links that are related to your site and of course with PR are those good links. But the best one you link to the sites that are in the SERP's from a popular and competitive keyword!Hey there,All inbound links are good links and I will tell you why.If there was such a thing as a bad inbound link, then your competitors would link to your website from drug websites, porn websites, and similar sites. All inbound links benefit your website. However, quality inbound links help more than others - but the others are still good links because it helps your site (a little) rather than not helping it.Sincerely,Travis think, not all links are good if your inbound links came from unrelated sites. SE's especially G looks a unrelated sites a bad one!First, the Good side of IBL:Ok, I'm not going to use the Google PageRank as a factor here because obviously its an inaccurate measuring tool that focuses on something (Inbound / Backlinks) already measured more accurately by other means.Granted NO tool has yet to be found that is 100% accurate with no glitches. Thats just life.Importance of Inbound / Backlinks: * Search Engine PlacementIt's becoming more & more evident that inbound links play a prominent roll in search engine placements. The more Authoritative the site is that points to you, retroactively the more authority (Link Juice) your site receives from the link in accordance to the search term / Phrase (Assuming the links are Anchored). * Virtual DoorwaysVirtual Doorways is pretty self explanatory & basic. The more Links (Doorways) pointing to you & allowing potentials to access your site (Business) the better. Kind of a strategical geography tactic.Example: A StarBucks Coffee shop just opened on the corner of a half way busy street. The west wall is connected to the rest of a strip mall, while the south, north, & East wall face 3 separate streets (One being the Main street).By placing a door to the main street the business starts to receive walk in traffic. They notice that there are still people walking up & down the 2 adjoining streets but don't seem to come around to the main street side. By adding an additional entrance to the other 2 adjoining streets they start to find more browsing traffic coming in (Thus boosting potential Sales). * Branding PowerAs we all know, Branding is based on repetition & consistency. It takes time to do. In order to speed up this processes you would need to get your Brand name in front of more viewers (Hinse Inbound / Backlinks). As an individual surfs the net & starts to see the same Brand name mentioned in more places, they tend to become curious & visit simply to see what all the fuss is about. The name (Especially if Unique) will stick in their brain & become familiar to them. Next time someone asks them about a certain product or service, guess what? Your Unique Brand & impression on them will pop in their head due to repetitive viewing & become a referral (even if they never used any of your products / services before them self). There are several other beneficial factors obtained by inbound / backlink campaigns, I just used the above 3 because they are most relevant of them ALL.Now the Bad side:Bad IBL's (E.G. Link Farms, Web rings, FFA's, Etc...) Are being placed in the Omitted section of google just like duplicate content is & do NOT count as an IBL for you. Depending on the Negative aspects of the Originating site giving you the IBL, you may or may not also receive a Penalty. What is a Bad IBL in a nutshell? It's simply a page / software / program designed for the soul purpose of manipulating the search engine algorithm. The Mathematical Algorithms calculate several aspects of an IBL , !st & foremost is if the IBL is originating from a Red Flagged site (This of course is a site that has already been penalized by Google). It would be safe to assume that if you have negative (Red Flags) Pointing at you (IBL's) that you will also start to fall into the red Flag area. Just like if you have Quality authoritative sites pointing at you, you will be placed in a more Positive Authoritative status yourself.Sometimes it can be hard determining the 2 & ONLY Google programs know what Google Algorithms Red Flag. It's simply a common sense scenario at best....Hope this helps a bit.... [/img]if your page got link from other page then your page could receive diluted PR vote if the page has to many outbound link(OBL). for example if the page has 50 OBL then your page receive 2% of the PR vote( if PR = 4 then vote =0.08 ) while with 100 OBL your page receive 1% ( if PR = 4 then vote =0.04 ). so diluted PR only effect negatively in how much vote you would receive not the PR you already have. that is what i understand from PR formulaOfcourse not.. Thats link will be treated like incomming link for your site that is good thing for your and it will raise your site's PR. Linking to your site is beneficial for second one.
