I see that Google has sent out what appears to be at least the first round of GMail invites. Sadly I didn't get in. Looks like they are letting users choose their own username and for a 1 gig email account.Pretty sweet stuff. It appears OZZU got an invitehttp://www.ozzu.com/general-discussion/anyone-wants-chance-get-invited-use-gmail-come-t24271.htmlSorta stupid if you ask me, though. Maybe OK for general public folks, but I think most of us here have our own domains and control our email anyway. It's pretty crappy when people have to go through hoops to find a good email address that won't get spammed (yeah right).I just sorta like having control over my own. When I get spammed too much on one, I just change it, pure and simple. The people that need to contact me ge the update, the rest don't.yeah same here. When you get spammed, juz change to another accountnice and neat, you can start organising N arranging everything I like using web emails though. I can use it any where there's web since i travel quite a bit.My website is offering a free gmail invite via contest. There have been more than a few companies who start out, get lotsa business, build up real fast, and then suddenly crash. Google isnt taking that chance.
