I've created a simple page to display some pictures but the graphic I have used takes quite a while to load even on fast connections, and it's not a huge graphic (192k). I think it may be because I have the graphic set as the background so that I could place a table over it and position the dropdown menu wherever I wanted. Here's a link...
Is there a better way to do this so the graphic loads faster? I'm probably going about this all the wrong way. Any responses would be appreciated. Thanks.
BUT, 192k is a big file. Way too big to be practical over a 56k connection. Your whole webpage shouldnt be over 70k max.... and thats if it has tons of content. 30k is nominal. and yes, those sizes include images.I don't know what program you used to make that picture or if you made it at all, but here it is at only 33K. should load a little bit faster. also you can cut half that white off and then center it in the page and it will/should load faster. Thanks, may I ask how you got the graphic down to 33k?I like to use:
I've cut my graphics sizes down 20% without any difference in image quality.I use a program called Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/)
it is a cool little program and it is free. it shrinks and does almost everything that a big one does. my only true friend Originally posted by scoutt
