im making a site for a restaraunt. they want there entire menu on the site. they also want them grouped into food catagories like this:

-Appetizer
....Sea Scallaps
....Shrimp C0cktail

-Entrees
....-Chicken
.......-Chicken cordon blu
.......-Chicken Marsala
.......-Chicken Parmesan
....-Veal
.......-Veal Parmesan
.......-Veal Marsala

anyway, i thought of using a dhtml folding menu but it looks kinda cheesy if you go here to view it (http://www.vitositaliancafe.com/menu_test1.htm)

what other ideas do yall have? Flash? Java? Other?

thanks for any info.
Brad NelsonThat directory tree effect does not look good for a resturant website. Too technical looking.

If the menu is not too big just put it all on the page, simulating a real menu.

If the menu is a bit extensive then try the fancier stuff like a DHTML menu or Flash (if you can make it load fast and look good).

Look at what other resturant websites have done to get ideas.
KevinI agree with Kevin. I have done several restaurant websites. I have always put the whole menu up. I do, however, break the menu into categories. Appetizers, Entrees (Sometimes further subdivided into beef, poultry, seafood, pasta) dessert, Etc.I assume you won't be working on this website forever. I'd like to see the chef editing a java applet in order to change the menu. :DIf it's longish and you still want it all on one page, there's always the good old named anchor. Put the categories all on the top so people can go right to what they want to look at, and they can still scroll down the page if they prefer. Sometimes the simplest solutions seem to work the best. If it's very exensive, a tabbed kind of thing would work, too.i think I'll just create a flash to do it.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Brad Nelsonwell if you do really want a collapsable tree. Heres a great generator
