Ok first of all, I forgot to renew my domain name ahead of time. Really dumb I know, but I just forgot and now I can't figure out how to get it back.
I had originally registered it from registryFly, since back then they were pretty much the cheapest and their minimalist support still provide all the services I needed (which wasn't much). So today when I realized that I had forgotten to re-register, I went back to registryFly and put in an order to renew my domain, which they said was available. After I put in the order they said they needed an EPP code, and emailed me saying that I could probably get it from eNom, their former business partner.
I went to the eNom site, but couldn't find anything useful. So I went back and re-read the email, which said while eNom probably has it, I should do a whoIs search to be sure. So I went back to registryFly and did the search. Now it says that it is unavailable and registered through eNom, though it won't tell me who actually owns it. To make matters worse, I then went back to eNom and searched through them, and they claim that the domain is registered as well, but through registryFly.
Or maybe they aren't registered with anyone and I just don't understand how one registrar can "have" a domain, when you're supposed to be able to register through any service... Anyway, if someone could explain to me what's probably going on, and give any advice on what action to take, I'd really appreciate it.
