Hello
I have a few questions regarding anchor texts
1.firstly how many times can I use the anchor text on one particular page I have used it twice on my page to link to another page.
2. should the text be at the top or bottom
3. does the other page have to link back like a reciprocal link
4. should I put anchor text in all my footer links or just leave them as a standard link
5. will anchor text water down the effectiveness of my original keyword for that page.
6. I have done the anchor text on [affordable-removals.co.uk] for the key phrase house clearance companies in Leeds would someone please check I have done this correctly.
Thanks a million
Mark What do you mean by anchor text?
Are you talking about link text, which is the text you use in links to other pages?
In general it's not an issue, but I've looked at your website and its full of spamy links so some really bad pages, but then I think that's your strategy.
Using keywords in links is always good. The more links you have in a page, the less effective each one is.
I'd remove the under construction links as they will dilute not only your search engine presence but also annoy visitors. They also cause 404 errors which is a great way to lose customers. Quote: Originally Posted by markhealytheking Hello

Mark Wait, i think you've got the concept of anchor text wrong.
Code: <a href=http://www.v7n.com/forums/seo-forum/"http://yourdomain.com/targeted-page">Targeted keyword</a>In the above code, 'Targeted Keyword' is considered as the anchor text for the URL it links to. suppose I am using the one anchor text for two url. Is it beneficial. Thanks alot for this detailed response thats helped alot but just to clarify
my index page www.affordable-removals.co.uk has anchor link text on it which is House clearance in West Yorkshire this text then leads to http://www.affordable-removals.co.uk...yorkshire.html
HAVE I DONE THIS CORRECTLY
Thanks a hell of alot It's correct, and probably one of the better link on your page
You do have lots of natural links with good link text in the content but your footer and menu are crazy. They have many repeated links to the same page that just use different anchor text. It's generally considered that the search engines only take into account the first link in a page that goes to a specific page, so the rest is just making it look like your trying to fool the search engines. They are not completely stupid, especially when it's just a repeated set of links to the same page! Who naturally does that?
It may feel like a good idea to do those repeated links, but search engines are wise to it. Think about your visitor. Are you giving them a good or bad experienced by doing it. Would it annoy you if you kept trying new links to just get the same thing that didn't relate to the text in the link?
Just on a side tip. You have links that send people away from your website. It's a good idea to make these open in a new tab/window so your website stays around. To do this you use the target attribute like this in your anchor tag...
Code: <a target="_blank" href=http://www.v7n.com/forums/seo-forum/"...">link text</a>
