I have a web hosting company (who doesnt, i know
), and i am trying to experiment with pagerank and seo based on my little knowledge and understanding of the same.
My site (wanttohost dot com) has PR 2 for its home page which i checked from prchecker dot info web site.
I am trying to understand why my home page has a PR 2. There are no links returned in Google SERP when i link:domain for wanttohost(dot)com. Though there are a few sites with PR less than 1 that are indexed by Google. Will PR of these sites be passing the link juice to my home page?
Also, when i try Yahoo site explorer, it does show a few sites pointing to wanttohost(dot)com home page which makes me think if there are really some sites providing inbound link but i am not able to find them using Google?
I am confused, why Google is showing PR 2? May be other factors are there and i would like to discuss those affecting the PR in my case.
-K- I just checked your site, here are some points you may want to consider :
1) Never Depend on Google for checking backlinks. Webmaster tools is ok but using the 'link' attribute in the websearch to check backlinks is not recommended as it will NEVER give you an accurate count of your backlinks.
2) Rather use Yahoo Siteexplorer, it shows you have 108 backlinks pointing to your site(these links also
