......that when you set a font pt. in styles, that the text will appear to be the same proportional size regardless of what font is being used?
Reason being, I have a 'favourite' font that I would like to use, (common but not on some computers - I checked) but if the font isn't installed on the visitors computer, the second, third, and fourth chosen fonts (which are ubiquitous) throw the whole layout completely out of whack. I know I've seen the code to do this somewhere (probably here), but I can't remember if it involves a lot, or if it's just a simple matter of inserting something in a style sheet.
Thanks.NOt with simple code, simple code will make it bigger or smaller depending on the font. Sorry that I dont know the code to do this (I dont even think there is one, but I might be wrong).
Sorry,
Paul......."16 pt", that doesn't necessarily mean that whatever is displayed is 16 points in size?
Does anybody know a workaround so that I may be able to accomplish this?
I'm thinking of something like:

<font size ="5" face="favourite,verdana,ariel,helvetica,sans-serif>

and be able to switch to 'pt 2' for "verdana, ariel,ETAL "?

What a great resource this site is....I've been to plenty, and they suck!as far as I know if you set a font size to your favorite, it is used with all font faces. you can't change the size if you use a different face. like you were asking....here's a little leisure reading:

In MS Word, put 2 different fonts against each other at nominally the same size (e.g. Verdana and Courier both at 16pt). They aren't (on screen). And it's not just the visible size of the text, it affects the line spacing too.

I suspect the results would be different (but equally non-uniform) when rendered by a browser - let alone across browsers.

Not sure where that leaves it...
_mrkiteSimplist solution: just use pixels instead of points. Mind you it, while it means all fonts will display exactly the same size, it can make 'em look awful ugly.
