i really like coding html using notepad, but its getting a bit tedious and hard on the eyes. is there any program out there (like notepad) that highlights different tags in different colors? the simplicity of notepad is what draws to me.. thanks !The 'Edit Source' function on Mozilla browser does this. There are also some standalone shareware programs that do: see CNET, Tucows, Download .com etc for more.try out Proton from www.meybohm.de, really great code editor with syntax highlighting for +30 different languages, including the most common one's such as HTML, CSS, C++, Perl, PHP, *SQL, Python, XML, VB/VBS etc. :) comparable to EditPlus but completely free.

http://www.meybohm.de/proton.htmlI use ConText which is like notepad with features. free and codes in colors, and not jsut html, but php, cgi, asp, xml, and all others.I would like to 2nd the Context vote. I use that when I'm programming in windows. I use Nedit when in linux.

Others to look at if you don't like context...

Arachnophilia http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/
NoteTab Light http://www.notetab.com/
EditPad Lite http://www.editpadpro.com/editpadlite.html

I don't think they all have every feature of Context, but they aren't bad. Another one (thats also really good) is TextPad (www.textpad.com) which is shareware ($20 I think) but has an unlimited full featured "evaluation" copy. I used it for a while and once I started doing commerical stuff I paid them..its main advantage is moreprogrammable buttons than context allowing me to run more versions of java and debuggers etc. But if you don't need that I'd go with context.
Brycethanks for all the replies, im gonna Download them and check em out :)Please do a short write up, back in this thread, as to what you find good and bad about each program that you try...
