Im hoping some people can help me make a decision. Ive got a web site, we initially started off as a window film company (window film is mainly associated with flat glass on homes and offices), we now do car window tinting and also signs and decals (as well as doing signs on vans etc we now have moved into home decor as we do wall art etc). So weve got three main areas that we cover, and possibly 4. At the moment Im trying to incorporate everything into the one domain visionwindowfilms.co.uk but because it has window film in the title its doesn't really describe everything we do. I was thinking of buying a domain that was non generic and we could brand for all sides of the business but this is proving a bit difficult.

Im now wondering whether to split the business into three seperate sites specifically towards the specific industry. The problem with this is obviously three lots of optimizing but if its the best for the business a bit extra work wont hurt me.

Id appreciate any advice and pros and cons to each idea. I believe we have discussed this before........

I still hold with my last suggestion...treat the "main" page of the different products individually....

In other words, Seo and promote each section as though it were stand alone.....

If someone is looking for car tint it will return high on a a search.....
Once they get to your site they then have the option to research your other products....
Many people may have a need for several of your products.....

A car driver might have house or business windows....etc..
I think that would work well...... I was asking if I would be better off having 3 seperate domain name sand essentially three sites for the 3 different product areas rather thaqn having everything listed under the window film domain? Having a domain for each field will prove best in the long term, as each can rank better for their specific keywords and bring maximum traffic. Linking the website between them is good seo-wise. I would suggest different domains for different areas, it is long term strategy Quote: Originally Posted by visionwindowfilms I was asking if I would be better off having 3 seperate domain name sand essentially three sites for the 3 different product areas rather thaqn having everything listed under the window film domain? My idea is that you can buy one new domain that would cover all the 4 services that you have to offer. Your current domain only covers the 'window film' niche. Buy a generic domain like windowservices.com, services4windows etc. Then create different pages for the differents services you have to offer, and optimize them on -page well. Dont buy 4 different domains for this, it is waste of money because each domain is going to cover only 1 service. If you have one single domain covering all the 4 services well optimized people will see you are professional enough to offer multiple services under the same business. Hi,
I agree with you that should use different domains for different areas for long term strategies. i think using the each domain with separate domain will not give you very much advantage rather than using 1 domain to cover all services that you're offering..

i believe that the main point of SEO is link building.. domain name will help you a lil bit with brand, or if you use long-tail keyword to increase your SERP...

so, it doesn't matter if you use one or multiple domain... just work on your link building...
