Im looking at buying a few high PR links for a year to give me a boost. I've had a couple of sites which are PR6 but both have only been going for 3 and 6 months so it seems like quite a big jump in a short space of time. Should I be wary of these? No, these sites are not good for buying links, you see that 3-6 months are too few for getting trust from search engines! Google always surprise people, if i were you, you should do link building more for your site to gain more traffics and backlinks so that you will be able to have a good PR again. Do not buy links, yes it can help you but only for a short period of time. buy link not a good way to boost any site no body prefer it Why you want to buy links. Try to built backlinking by active participation in forums for your potential customers or do social bookmarking . Eventually it will help you a lot. Not a good decision. 3 to 6 months old sites won't really recognize by search engines. If I were you I would keep the money and i'll do link building tasks. If you are to buy links, what is more important in acquiring links is how quality and related the links are. Don't be flattered with the high PR, rather the site's content how related it is to yours and the number of outgoing links on the page etc... I agree that organic traffic is the best, and pr is not all you need, you need traffic My experience differs a little.
Buy links from niche sites. If your site is about "Pet Adoption Metropolis" and Metropolis has some serious competition, Buy a link from a site the ranks well for Pet Adoption. It will cost a bit, but its worth it. This should be done after you have a solid site, structure, content etc... but after you have put a good amount of effort into it buy a link or two. Matt Cutts with Google is always hunting down those Pay Per Link websites. Better to have natural incoming links or link exchanges than risking yourself IMO. There is no risk to the *buyer* of the links. Google does understand that people buy links for traffic. The selling site may get its pages stripped of PageRank then and if there's not traffic you've wasted your money. But sites are not penalized by Google for buying links.

Of course, your eggs should not be all in one basket. Byt, frankly, I don't think forum links are worth all that much SEO-wise - and I should know, I have 2,000 links on another one). They have some value, but the right paid links are better - if they last. Again, they may get stripped of value.
But here's some wisdom:
