Is there any way to use the ol' 'Target="_new"' command and still remain valid xhtml 1.0 strict or, better yet, valid xhtml 1.1?
Thanx.Nope, it's not in the spec, though I think it's in the xhtml 2.0 spec, have a look at this: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.youngpup.net/Mastah.aspx?year=2003&filename=popupsYou">http://www.youngpup.net/Mastah.aspx?yea ... =popupsYou</a><!-- m --> gotta be kidding me? target is going to be XHTML 2.0???
Is that because of the xframes? Here, take a look:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml2/mod-attribute-collections.html#col_HypertextUnfortunately">http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml2/mod-attribu ... ortunately</a><!-- m --> this means that it will again be valid to open new windows with links which don't rely on JavaScript and still be valid.
I think they should come up with a new attribute such as xtarget so that developers can't use _blank because it won't do anything.
