If I have 2 backlinks on 1 page, will it have the same benefit as having 1 link on 2 pages, or will it just be recognised as 1 link by the search engines?
Thanks for any help on this. For sure it will be beneficial for ranking the same page with 2 different keywords. Yahoo treat them as 2 BLs, while google would choose 1 BL from them.

it will have more benefit that one link although it is impossible to tell if it will be as good as 2 links. it will mean twice the amount of page rank is passed to your site but wont have twice the effect on links. Thanks mcl, that makes sense. If they are targeting different KWs,. I guess it will regarded as two backlinks.
But it is always better to make sure the variation of the backlink source, I guess. Sure will get 2 links but the value of the link will be shared... Link from same domain is not pass much link juice.. better from distinct domain It will count as 1 back link in google I don't think having two links on the same page helpful anyway for the website. I suggest you to create back links on different pages rather than having same links on single page. still need backlinks.. a bit of change wont help.. 2 backlinks on 1 page will be recognized as 2 only if you have 2 target keywords otherwise it is recognized as 1 by SEs it's good if you use different pages with different keywords!!!
