Web directory, or link directory, is a huge collection of website links on the Internet and those links are categorized into certain topics and sub-topics, according to the desire of editors.
There are two main types of web directories you should care about:
Human-edited directories are created and maintained by an editor or a group of volunteer editors who add links to the directories on regular basis. Human-edited directories are often targeted by SEO experts, bloggers and web masters because they believe strictly monitored directories will give more weight to the links than automatic directories. However, submitting links to human-edited directories may be a most tedious and boring job you’ve ever done due to the long delay in approval.
Automatic directories: are maintained by computer script which add links automatically into the directories. These directories are fast in approving, but because there are no human involved in the process of reviewing links, links often have less weight than those of human-edited directories.
