Doesn't mean a thing. You could have another 5,000 backlinks that Google isn't showing, just to stop your competitors finding your backlinks.i totally agree but you yahoo is showing your backlinks and with strong queue, i see that our backlink counts doubled since this month at Yahoo but decreased at this update on Google however i see that Google ranks increased too.I quit comparing as long as it keeps increasing. I mostly just monitor the number of pages that are indexed on my site, and actual backlink clicks (real visitors).Checking your backlinks on Google can be very misleading (it shows 651 for PHPSector), Yahoo's reference isn't bad though. It showed me a backlink I didn't know about (not actually received any clicks from it yet).Mostly though I just look at my content, add new content pages, see what search terms I'm coming up for in the 3 top players (Google, MSN, Yahoo), what pages on the site the SE's are linking to for those terms, then focus on building onto that.
