Hi,

I'm in the process of building a website for a client. He wants to be able to update and make changes to the website himself once I've finished and put the website on his server. However, he only has a very basic IT knowledge. What I'm looking for is some kind of simple wysiwyg editor which i can upload and install on the server. It has to be easy to use - both for his sake and mine!

I've been told that cms is the way to do it but I don't really get how it works. When I've googled it the amount of stuff that's come up has kinda overwhelmed me Plus, the couple of systems I've looked at look waaay too techy for me. I'm reasonably proficient at html and css but i know very little php.

Can anyone help please?

You create a template, then The user creates their content, can adminsiter their site and edit it all through the web, using simplified tools to bypass the need for FTP e.t.c

Its very cool.

I love Mambo, but I have seen a whopping increase in people using wordpress as a CMS system, even though its techincally a Blogging system
I can code wordpress and its very easy once you now which bit is which. all you need to know is css and html. prehaps a little php. but i know no php and i can do it fine.
There's always Contribute from Adobe/Macromedia...
Most of the cms scripts come with detailed set up and configuration instructions so you shouldnt have too much worries in those regards. Template customization generally requires knowledge of html and css which you've said you're already good at.

Go for something like wordpress, joomla and modx which i believe are the easiest ones to set up and customize.
