If you're using 3.7.x or 3.8.x use recaptcha that comes with vb you just have to register in the recaptcha site put your key and that's it, bots will stop registering

im using 3.6.8 will that work with it black?
i just set up Enhanced Captcha Image Verification for now..is this the same as u just mentioned Black? and will it stop these retarded viagra bots? lol

Following on from this, I have installed the enhanced captcha but the bots are still getting through, not as often but about 1 in 10 attempts results in the captcha image being the first selection which im guessing is what the bot trys to get through, when this happens the bot correctly selects the right image.
Wondering if its possible to have it so that the correct image is a random selection but is never in the first position.

The bogus registration axxholes are using xrumer and it has the ability to use OCR to crack the captcha. The only one that has avoided detection to date is recaptcha and the spammer traps that check the time or the ones capable of monitoring the badguy input.

xD as i recomended you use REcaptcha is easy and i haven't got any bot since i opnend my forum, maybe you want to upgrade your forum to 3.7.3 is not that bad!
I'm currently using the enhanced captcha, where by you have to click the image to what is asked
Case 1:
This would not allow the bot to proceed to register and there for has done everything it needed to.
Case 2:
The bot would be able to progress past this screen as the correct image is in the first position in which case the bots (the ones which I'm seeing registered) select the first image and progress through the rest of the registration process.

yeah..they still get thru for me as well ... so i guess ill have to upgrade to 3.7
